State Senator Seth Lewis is a proud Illinoisan with deep community roots. Raised in a family where faith, integrity, volunteerism, and public service were foundational values, Seth has carried those principles with him throughout his career in business and public service.
A graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Seth approaches government the same way he approaches engineering and business: by solving problems, improving efficiency, and delivering results. As a small business owner and entrepreneur, he understands the challenges facing Illinois families and employers and has made it his mission to make Illinois a state where people want to live rather than leave.
Seth was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 2020, where he quickly established a reputation for effective, bipartisan leadership. During his first term, he passed several bills and resolutions, including Cal's Law, landmark legislation that expanded access to advanced diagnostic testing for children battling cancer. Since becoming law, Cal's Law has helped countless Illinois families by providing children with greater opportunities for early detection and more personalized treatment options. Seth also authored legislation creating Illinois' first Indian American Advisory Council, giving one of the state's fastest-growing communities a permanent voice in state government.
Known for working across the aisle to get results, Seth was recognized by his House colleagues in 2021 as the "Best Republican State Representative" in a bipartisan Capitol poll. That same reputation followed him to the Senate, where he was later honored as "Best Republican Senator" in 2025.
After just two years in the House, voters elected Seth to the Illinois Senate in 2022. Since joining the Senate, he has continued to build a record of practical, bipartisan accomplishments. He helped pass legislation strengthening protections for vulnerable adults by improving dementia training requirements for guardians, supported measures modernizing state and local government operations, and worked across party lines on public safety and transportation initiatives, including legislation to improve roadway safety for motorcyclists and other road users. His focus remains on passing common-sense legislation that improves government, protects taxpayers, and makes Illinois a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
Before serving in the General Assembly, Seth served as a trustee of the Bartlett Fire Protection District and spent years coaching youth baseball, football, and basketball while volunteering in his community. Those experiences reinforced his belief that public service begins at the local level and that strong communities are built by neighbors helping neighbors.
Today, Senator Lewis and his wife, Dr. Bhavna Sharma-Lewis, proudly call Bartlett home. Together, they have two adult sons, and Seth remains committed to fighting every day for lower taxes, safer communities, economic opportunity, and a more accountable state government for all Illinois families.
